Documentation & setup
Vedetta is a native iOS and Android client for Sentry that turns issue alerts into real-time push notifications you can triage from your phone. This page covers what the Sentry integration does, what it needs, how to install and connect it, and a changelog of changes.
What Vedetta is
Vedetta is an independent, native mobile client for Sentry.io. It delivers a Sentry issue to your phone the moment it fires, and lets you act on it on the spot: read the stack trace, event details, tags, breadcrumbs, and release health, then assign, resolve, ignore, or comment, the same triage you would do at your desk, without opening a laptop.
Vedetta is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry). "Sentry" is a trademark of its respective owner, used here only to describe compatibility. You connect Vedetta to your own Sentry organization with your own authorization.
What the Sentry integration does
The Vedetta integration is what makes real-time push work. When you install it on your Sentry
organization, it subscribes to your organization's issue webhook and links your
Sentry account to your specific device. From then on, when an issue is created in a project you
have selected, Sentry notifies Vedetta's push relay, which forwards the alert to your device
through Apple Push Notification service (iOS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android).
Routing is per user and per organization. Alerts are scoped to the organizations and projects you pick, and they reach only the devices linked to your account. Every user authenticates individually through the integration; there is no shared secret and no shared inbox, and one organization's alerts are never visible to another.
What you need
- An iPhone on iOS 17 or later, or an Android device on Android 9 (API 28) or later.
- A Sentry account with permission to install an integration on your organization (the Manage Integrations / Org Admin permission in Sentry).
- Notifications enabled for Vedetta on your device, so alerts can be delivered.
You do not need to create a separate Vedetta account, paste an API token, or run anything server-side. Authorization happens through Sentry's standard integration install screen.
Install and connect
- Install the app. Get Vedetta from the App Store or Google Play. On first launch the app opens in demo mode on built-in sample data, so you can explore the full feature set before connecting anything.
- Tap Connect Sentry. Open the app and choose Connect Sentry. The app opens Sentry's secure install screen in a system browser sheet (no in-app web view, so your Sentry credentials are never seen by the app).
- Authorize the integration. In Sentry, pick the organization to connect and approve the requested access. Sentry then sends you back to Vedetta automatically.
- You are connected. Vedetta registers your device and links it to your Sentry account in the background. Your real projects and issues replace the demo data, and new issues start arriving as push notifications you can triage immediately.
To connect a different organization, or to disconnect, open Settings in the app. Removing the Vedetta integration from your Sentry organization's settings also stops all push delivery for that organization.
Using Vedetta
- Push to triage: tap an alert to jump straight to the issue, with its latest event and full stack trace.
- Triage actions: assign, resolve, ignore, and comment, with changes written back to Sentry in real time.
- Browse and search: projects, issue lists, saved searches, tag value drill-down, and event-by-event navigation.
- Releases and health: release list and detail with crash-free session and user rates.
- Alerts and activity: view your organization's alert rules and an issue's activity feed and notes.
Permissions and access
Vedetta uses read access to your Sentry organization, projects, issues, events, and releases to
display them, and write access to perform the triage actions you take (assigning, resolving,
ignoring, and commenting). The integration's issue webhook is what enables real-time
alerts. Vedetta requests only the access these features need, and it never modifies your project
or organization settings.
You stay in control: the access is granted by your Sentry org during install and can be revoked at any time by removing the integration in your Sentry organization settings.
Privacy and data
Your Sentry data is fetched on demand to display in the app and is not sold or used for advertising. The push relay handles only what is needed to route an alert to the right device, and organizations are isolated from one another. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Vedetta Pro
Exploring Vedetta on built-in demo data is free, with no account or payment. Connecting your own Sentry organization for live data and push alerts is part of Vedetta Pro, an optional subscription that is 1 month free, then $19.99 per year. If a subscription lapses, the app returns to the free demo experience and never locks you out. See the Terms of Service for details.
